Social Media: When Should You Be Posting?
Do you work hard researching interesting content, composing the right messaging and finding a great picture to support your social media post, but find your engagement is still disappointing?
Don’t worry, your content may not be the problem and there could be a quick fix!
A lot of people overlook the importance of the time and the day they are posting and simply publish posts at a time that is convenient for them. It’s great that you’re taking the time to stay relevant on social media, but it’s really important that you post at the time your target audience is most likely to be online to engage with them properly.
As a rule of thumb, the best time to post is mid-week.
With all social networks, mid-week is prime posting time. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday people are most engaged either with work, general browsing, or keeping up with friends and family. By Friday evening, people are generally less engaged with work-related content but will still shop and browse in their leisure time, so it’s important to stay active on weekends, continue to like, share and comment even if you are not posting out content.
We have put together a basic guide on the best time of day to post for general global engagement on the different social media platforms, but we recommend that you do your research and look into industry-specific trends. For instance, if you are in the consumer goods industry, high engagement can also occur in the evenings, especially on Instagram.
